The OHS softball team won two of three games as hosts of the annual Bob Morgan Classic, but then lost two of three after Memorial Day. Lady Bulldog pitcher Amber Breitbarth notched 40 (forty) strikeouts with just three walks during that stretch. In nine games this year she has 79 K's to her credit and holds an intimidating 1.45 ERA. The ladies came back from the holiday with an 11-0 rout of West Central Valley. The bats were booming as Mikayla Roberts led going 3 for 3 with two scores. Ashlee Ellsworth, Carly Lindholm, and Maddie Diggs had two hits each and combined for seven runs. The Lady Bulldog bats were subdued by Coon Rapids-Bayard, who were able to score two more runs off the same number of hits to best the ladies 6-4. Hitting fell off completely as the Bulldogs returned home to face Earlham Friday night. The game stayed scoreless until the Cardinals posted a four-run fifth inning, then added three more in the seventh. The ladies could only find two hits, both singles by Ellsworth and Diggs. |
