Girls track coach Dave Neubauer saw a good effort with much improved times at the home meet Thursday, April 12.
"We host an elite field in this track meet," said Neubauer. Placing in this meet is difficult because the teams that compete here are very good."
The 4 x 800 relay had an outstanding effort and finished fourth. According to the coach their time was the best they have seen in that event in the past five to six years.
Even with the amount of competition, Ogden collected 23 points. Gilbert and Martensdale-St. Mary's dominated the meet placing first and second respectively.
Bulldog throwers again had a great night. They now have two girls breaking the 30' barrier in the shot event, Liz Carter and Olivia Johnson. The says their throws are getting more consistent as they continue to improve. Johnson finished sixth in both the shot and discus. Maddie Moses (shot and discus) and Shannon Wirtz (shot) are increasing their distances thrown.
Morgan Bennett had a fourth place finish in an elite field of hurdlers, clocking a time of 19.54 in the 100 meter hurdles.
Ogden picked up points in the 3000 meter run when Alissa Shannon garnered fourth place. As she grows more comfortable with that event the coach looks for her times to get even better.
Place wise, Maddie Diggs finished fifth in the 200 and 400 runs and Michaela Halbur took fifth in the 800.
Also placing was the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays. Neubauer says the sixth place finish for the two relays is significant because they have so many freshmen running in those events.
The Bulldogs will be shorthanded their next two meets with seniors gone for the senior trip. Gilbert plays host Monday night, while East Greene hosts a meet Tuesday at Jefferson.
