GABE Summerhay's 22 yard field goal barely two minutes into the Ogden-Panorama (Panora) game here Friday gave the Bulldogs a quick 3-0 lead but it was short lived as the Panthers stormed back to build a 35-10 halftime advantage and went on to win 41-17. The local gridmen are still looking for their first win. "Panora's speed was the big difference in this one," Coach Ken Vigdal said. "We played much better in the second half, but we can't continue to give up big leads in the first and second quarters and expect to win. We need to be more consistent." Ogden was without a couple of key players, both the result of injuries sustained in the Woodward-Granger game last week. Jared Hefler is still nursing a hip injury and Tyler Baumhover is still feeling the effects of a leg contusion. Both have provided solid play for the 'Dogs. Back in action this week, however, was Nick Katzenmeier who took on a big load Friday. The senior rushed for 166 yards on 29 carries and scored both Ogden TDs. He also had 3 solo tackles. The game started out well enough for Ogden as a big Homecoming crowd watched. The Panthers fumbled the opening kickoff and Bulldog Brett Daniel recovered on the O14. Three plays later, Summerhays' field goal attempt split the uprights. After an exchange of downs, the Panthers mounted a drive from their own 38. The winners put their speed and fine passing game to work to tally from the 28 via a Zach Brehmer to Andy Henry aerial. The try for extra point failed but Panorama led 6-3 with 5:15 left in the first act, and they never looked back. Second quarter The winners put 29 points on the board in the second period, with Ogden scoring just once. John Derry bullied his way over from the 9 and Brehmer teamed up with J.C. Watts for the PATs at 11:34. Kyle Muyskens galloped 62 yards for another Panther score at 9:05, but the kick for extra point failed. Then it was Ogden's turn. Katzenmeier returned the ensuing kickoff 9 yards to his own 25. A roughing the kicker penalty kept the drive alive. Then Thomas Vigdal fired to Asher Van Sickle from the enemy 45. Van Sickle made a great catch and added more big yardage after receiving, charging to the 14. A roughing the passer violation put Ogden on the 5, from where Katzenmeier bolted over. Summer-hays' kick made it 20-10 with 5:27 left before intermission. Panorama answered with two more TDs before halftime. Derry tallied from the 8, with a Brehmer to Muyskens aerial adding the PATs at 3:07. Brehmer teamed up with Muyskens again, this time from the 4, and when Brehmer's kick for the PAT was good, the visitors led 35-10 at :24.7 Panorama scored one more time in the second half. Brehmer crashed over from the 2, but the try for the extra point failed with 2:39 left in the third act. Katzenmeier tallied from the 4 and Summerhays added the PAT with 11:31 left in the game. The Bulldogs were able to move the ball at times and the passing game was much improved. Ogden rushed for 184 yards while the Panthers tore up 260 yards. Vigdal was 6 of 16 in passing, good for 103 yards. The winners were 12 of 19 for 216 yards. The Vigdalmen had 59 total plays to Panorama's 56. Katzenmeier led the Bulldog offense with 166 yards on 29 carries and 2 TDs. Muyskens led Panorama with 94 yards on 11 assignments, including the longest run on the night, 62 yards. Derry carried 16 times for 79 yards. Van Sickle was Ogden's top receiver with 76 yards on 3 receptions. Josh Turner grabbed 2 aerials for 21 yards. Henry led Panorama's passing game with 122 yards on 5 catches. Defensively, Bulldog Adam Adreon had an interception while Daniel recovered a fumble. Ryan Alberts led in tackling with 5 solos and 4 assists. Other key men were Sean Nichols 7-1, Tyler Happe 4-3, John Brown 5-1, Vigdal 3-2, Van Sickle and Adreon 2-2.
