    Mary Frantum

          Services for Mary Frantum will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Perry Lutheran Home Chapel, Perry, Iowa. Visitation is Monday, April 23 from 1 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Max Phillips will provide words of comfort at the service. Dennis Morgan will provide the music.
          Mary's honorary bearers are her great-grandchildren: Jessica, Spencer, and Tristan Frantum, Jolisa Johnson, Estella Bock, and Katie and Josie Noland. Burial at a later date will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church Youth Activities Fund of Ogden and Woodward.
          Mary Ella Frantum, daughter of Thaddeus McDonald and Josephine Temby, was born Oct. 15, 1917 in Ogden and died April 14, 2012 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry at the age of 94.
          Mary was raised on her family's farm near Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1935. After graduation she taught school. On Feb. 27, 1937 she was united in marriage to Charles George Frantum in Council Bluffs. They made their home on a farm in Woodward. Charles and Mary were the parents of Charles J. "Buster" and Jolene. Mary and Charles retired to Ogden in 1986 and later to Woodward in October of 1999 when Charles entered the nursing home there. After Charles's death in 2000, she moved to Ogden.
          Mary worked at Whitney Drug Store, Woodward Lumber Yard, and had a Sunday paper route for the Des Moines Register. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and music. Mary sang in the church choir and at funerals. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Woodward and Ogden. She was the treasurer of the United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women's group in Woodward and the Youth Groups in Ogden and Woodward. Mary also was involved in Bible studies at both churches along with volunteering at school with reading.
          Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, infant son Marvin, daughter Jolene Bock, grandsons Charles Bock, and Andrew Bock, and a sister Frances Van Pelt.
          Mary is survived by her son, Buster (Cynthia) Frantum of Bouton, Iowa; three grandchildren: Kacy (Sue) Frantum of Ogden; Kelli (Alan) Noland of Woodward; and Kristi (Dustin) Williamson of Osceola; and seven great-grandchildren: Jessica, Spencer, and Tristan Frantum, Jolisa Johnson, Estella Bock, and Katie and Josie Noland. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, many other family and friends.
