Sunday, May 17 12:49 a.m.: Deputy Zeutenhorst made a traffic stop on Hwy. 30 eastbound and 222nd Street. Driver, Nathan R. Moody, 20, of Oskaloosa, was charged with driving while license suspended X2, no insurance, and expired registration on his vehicle. 1:35 a.m.: Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Highway 17. Two passengers in the vehicle were cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age: Brittni Sweeney, 20, of Granger, and Chelsey Kral, 19, of Woodward. 1:54 a.m.: Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to 2398 O Ave, Woodward on a complaint of an assault that had taken place at this location. Arrested for serious assault was Steven Hinders, 19, of Grimes. Hinders was also charged with under age possession of alcohol. Others charged at this incident included: Taylor Sweeney, 17, of Granger; Megan Northrup, 19, of Ankeny; Jordan Dorrian, 19, of Woodward; Benjamin Darlacombe, 19, of Polk City; Carli Fontana, 18, of Ankeny; Jonathan Hansen, 19, of Johnston; and Brian Summers, 18 ,of Grimes, all charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age. Adam J. Hutt 23 of that address in Woodward was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. 11:47 a.m.: Deputy Naeve responded to a complaint of a camp fire along the river on County Road E18. Individuals were warned of no fires on Corps Property. Fire was extinguished. Monday, May 18 5:16 a.m.: Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to an ambulance assist with a Mary Greeley Medical Center ambulance in the 6100 block of West Lincoln Way Ames. 5:31 p.m.: Sgt. Hurley investigated a two-vehicle accident 2.5 miles east of Ogden on 222nd Drive. Janis Wendt, 57, of Ogden, was exiting 220th by turning right onto 222nd. She was going to fast and struck an approaching vehicle at the stop sign. The second vehicle was operated by Shelly Harper, 44, of Boone. No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $1,500 to Wendt's 2005 GMC Envoy, and $2,000 to Harper's 2006 Toyota Highlander. Wendt was cited for failure to maintain control. 8:25 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at V Avenue and Hwy. 30. Driver Pedro A. Colon-Perez 21, of Ames, was charged with speeding, and driving while license suspended. 11:17 p.m.: Deputy Haase responded to E26 and U Avenue on a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Driver, Chance Crooks, 17, of Ames, was eastbound, drove off the roadway on E26 in the south ditch and rolled his vehicle. Crooks was taken to Boone County Hospital where he was treated for injuries. Crooks was cited and released to his mother. Charges included OWI, 1st offense, driving while license suspended, failure to maintain control, open container, and possession of alcohol under the legal age. A 2004 Oldsmobile was totaled. Tuesday, May 19 7:58 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 500 block of Hwy. 30. Driver, Andy Bell, 42, of Tahequah, OK, was arrested for speeding, driving while revoked, OWI 3rd offense, and possession of a prescription drugs. 8:58 p.m.: Sgt. Hurley responded to Ledges State Park on a complaint of the theft of a backpack in the park. Two individuals at the park had left their backpack for few minutes to ride a motorcycle and returned to find it missing. Items included credit cards and jacket. Investigation continuing. 10:56 p.m.: Deputy Wingate responded to a complaint of a disruptive child in the 400 block of Mayapple Lane. Child and parents were spoken to by the deputy and situation calmed down. Wednesday, May 20 6:04 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman responded to an assist with a fire at 905 B Avenue. Boxholm and Pilot Mound Fire responded. Report was the wind had taken part of a machine shed roof off and struck an LP tank that then started on fire with a power pole. No injuries were reported. 9:42 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman reported to the LEC to take a complaint from a person who appeared intoxicated. When the officer approached him about drinking, the individual fled on foot eastbound. Deputies caught the individual and arrested Jon Firnhaber, 43, Boone, for public intoxication. 9:45 p.m.: Sgt. Hurley investigated a car-deer accident two miles east of Ogden on 220th Street. Abigail Brend 20, of Ogden struck a deer, causing $1,000 in damage to a 2004 Mitsubishi. No injuries were reported. 11:14 p.m.: Sgt. Hurley responded to the McDonald's area on South Marshall. Boone Police had a complaint of two men who had stolen a sign from the drive-through. A foot chase ensued. Two individuals were apprehended. Boone Police will complete report. Thursday, May 21 4:30 p.m.: Sgt. Hurley began an investigation of checks being passed in several locations outside of Boone County and some in the State of Missouri. Victim is from rural Ames, Boone County. 6:12 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman and Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of anhydrous leaking from a nurse tank at the Co-op in Luther.Co-op personnel were notified to correct the problem. 8:30 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of a bull loose on the roadway on County Road E18 just west of R27. Owners were notified. 9:07 p.m.: Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of a truck that was parked on the roadway and blocking traffic east of the Wagon wheel bridge norhtwest of Boone. Driver, Lacy Michel, 30, of Ames was arrested for OWI, 2nd offense. |
