Over 50,000 people have gone to Y100rocks.com and signed the petition to "save Philadelphia from being the only big city in America without a modern rock station."

Listeners and recording superstars have united behind the cause and have been working together through Y100rocks.com. Dave Matthews Band, 311, Garbage, G. Love and The Starting Line wrote letters that have been posted on the Web site. The letters were read aloud at a "PROTESTival" this past Saturday, March 5 at 3 p.m., on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Hundreds of passionate Y100 fans assembled on the steps outside of the Art Museum to voice their frustrations over the lack of a modern rock outlet on the Philadelphia radio dial and to encourage corporations that own radio stations in the market to bring Y100's brand of modern rock music back to the airwaves. Many were clad in homemade Y100rocks.com T-shirts or were holding posters and signs with slogans calling for a new home for modern rock in Philadelphia. Listeners and ex-Y100 staffers spoke at the rally including former Y100 program director, Jim McGuinn. McGuinn said, "The top of the steps is the perfect setting for this. This is where Rocky ran up the steps. He was the ultimate underdog. All of us here today are the underdogs. Rocky never gave up, we're not giving up."

McGuinn also announced that Chris Carabba, lead singer of Dashboard Confessional, would be playing a show specifically for Y100rocks.com. The exact date of the show as well as ticket information will be announced soon on the Web site soon. "When Chris heard about the station getting pulled asked me how he could help."

Y100rocks.com, the radio station, has logged over 40,000 hours of listening.

There will be live DJs on the station every day this week and the schedule is posted on the website. Ex-Y100 staffers and DJs - as well as listeners - will be assuming DJ duties. Betsy and Sassy Britches, two Y100rocks.com listeners, were allowed to broadcast a four-hour show this past Thursday evening. More listener DJs will be taking over the airwaves soon.
