Some 70 floats and marching groups made their way in a big loop from the Solomon Welles House on State Street through the streets of Old Wethersfield to the reviewing stand in front of First Church of Christ on Main Street, and all the way to the Department of Motor Vehicles on State.
Everyone from the governor to the Wethersfield Red Onion mascot was there, with hundreds of spectators lining the parade route.
Even that upriver town Windsor, which has been known to dispute Wethersfield's proud claim of "the most auncient towne" in Connecticut, sent a float with a couple of trees marked "A living gift from Windsor to Wethersfield. Linked by a river. Rooted in history."
It was the biggest party the town has seen in years. After all, you only turn 375 once.
