O'Connor Prevails In Sherman

Democrat Andrea O'Connor was elected to a third term as the first selectman of Sherman this week, outpolling Republican challenger George Linkletter 697 to 550, as 47 percent of the electorate turned out.

She will start the new term in January.
Democrat Kate McConaghy collected 625 votes and Republican Edward Hays annexed 614 ballots to capture the two other seats on the three-member Board of Selectmen.
Republican Carol Havens ran unopposed and took 906 ballots for another term as town clerk.
Republican Eric Holub ran unopposed for town treasurer and took 876 votes, and Patricia Werme, also a Republican, was unopposed for tax collector and received 889 ballots.
Republican Jamie Spannhake, garnering 718 votes, and Democrats Virginia Zellner, 743 votes, and Robert Gamper, 737 votes, won the three seats that were available on the Board of Education.
Republican Sherry Pernsner, obtaining 585 votes, and Democrat Michael Berenberg, 551 votes, were both elected to terms on the Board of Assessment Appeals.
Republican Theodore Hol­lander, with 830 votes, and Democrats Neil Volkmar, 707 votes, and Barbara Ackerman, 821 votes, won terms on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Republican Jill Finch, winning 762 votes, and Democrat Mongford Clark, 650 votes, captured terms as alternates on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Democrat Joseph Chiara­monte, with 736 votes, was elected to a term on the Zoning Board of Appeals that will start in January.
Republican Kathleen Fazzone, garnering 636 votes, defeated Democrat Steven Roffwarg, 537 votes, for a seat on the Zoning Board of Appeals that will start in January 2011.
Republicans Ernst Krubsack, with 523 votes, Michael Crawford, 773 votes, Jacqueline Crawford, 785 votes, and Joel Judd, 813 votes, as well as Democrats Kenneth Knipple, 686 votes, Joseph Keneally, 537 votes and John Ciccimarro, 404 votes, were elected as constables.
