He began his career in 1969 by teaching for five years at Xavier High School in Middletown, CT, after which he spent three years at Fordham University doing doctoral work while on a teaching fellowship.
Most of his teaching was in Connecticut public schools. He taught in Brookfield for 18 years, where he also served as the department chairman as well as the district curriculum and staff development specialist for English.
He taught at Greenwich High School for 11 years, where he was also the program administrator for English.
For over 20 years he was a consultant and a popular workshop presenter with the Connecticut Writing Project, an affiliate of the National Writing Project, a teacher-training initiative.
He was also one of its associate directors and an adjunct professor in English and Education at Fairfield University.
Over the years he held leadership positions in local, state, and national organizations. He was active in the community as a past chairman of the Rowayton Civic Association, a past chairman of the St. John Church Parish Council, and a current board member and vice-president of the English-Speaking Union, Greenwich Branch. He also served as an ambulance driver with the former Rowayton EMS.
Professionally, he is a past president of the Connecticut Council of Teachers of English and was an elected board member of the Council on English Leadership of the National Council of Teachers of English.
He enjoyed international travel and had friends around the world. Some of his other interests included photography, genealogy, and Rensselaerville, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sarah "Sally" L. (Dawson) of Rowayton; his daughter, Rebecca of Greenwich; and his sons, Brendan of San Francisco and Timothy and his wife, Angela, of Rowayton. He is also survived by his brother, William Wilson, and his family of Staten Island as well as his sisters: Sr. Patricia Wilson, SC, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Kathleen Buxton and her family of Toms River, NJ. In addition, he leaves many loving friends and colleagues, especially his devoted companion, Hajime Ogawa.
Mr. Wilson's funeral was held Oct. 28 at Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral cortege proceeded to Saint John Parish Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.

Laura (Rosati) Sega
Laura (Rosati) Sega, 91, of New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully Oct. 24, 2009, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Litchfield, CT. Laura was the daughter of Leo and Pearl (Dwy) Rosati.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur L. Sega, in March 2009; a sister, Frances Dodd; and brother, Leo Rosati, Jr.
She is survived by her son James and her daughter Sally, both of New Milford; brother Vincent Rosati; and nieces and nephews and their families. Laura was very close to and will be especially missed by her niece, Mary Jane Williamson of Gaylordsville, CT.
Laura was a very pretty girl who loved to work in her garden, go to tag sales, and especially loved bingo. She loved to swim and was an excellent swimmer in her younger days.
She was a secretary and treasurer of the family-owned businesses.
Laura was the lifelong love, companion, and partner to her husband, Arthur.
Both Laura and Art suffered from Parkinson's Disease, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780, with the hope that the wonderful research they are doing will prevent this horrible disease in future generations.
A private graveside service for family only will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
