The More Things Change, and It's More of the Same
Brookfield citizens had three Republicans running--showing the rampant splintering on town Republicans that dates back to awhile before Silvaggi was even elected. The REAL question is when the Republicans in town will realize this themselves, when the conservatives and Good Ole Boys in the Republican Party will actually REALIZE this, and who will come to LEAD LEAD LEAD (provide TRUE leadership to) the Republicans in Brookfield. Davidson was a Republican a few months ago--now he's a "Democrat". Is he going to RUIN or run Brookfield the way the WHOLE town wants--or pay heed to a few select, limited groups? Will business, real estate profits, and education ONLY inteests take over the town, or will current realities breed common sense and honest, pragmatic leadership? Davidson has a HUGE job in front of him since the ONLY reason he even won was because Tinsley and Nepomuceno split the TRUE town Republicans into two factions. Davidson eked out a 190-vote victory when with the Tinsley-Ernie split Davidson should have won by a landslide if he really had voter support or town support. The moment the town goes the wrong way, taxes are raised, and the education faction shows influence, Davidson will be SLAMMED by the Republicans in two short years--GUARANTEED. The Republicans SWEPT all the other offices in town. Davidson has LESS than one inch of slack from these voters--if he even has that much...numbers do not lie. And anyone who can change a lifetime party affiliation THAT easily--what other slickness is he capable of? Time will tell us.
Robert, Brookfield
