Edgar Ortuno of Westport was charged with assault in the third degree after allegedly assaulting another employee of Four Brothers Pizza of Westport. He was released on a $500 bond and given a Nov. 2 court date.

Richard Yozzo of Katonah, New York, was arrested and charged with making a false statement that his boat was stolen after it was found capsized in the waters off of Bridgeport. The search for his boat involved search and rescue operations of both the Bridgeport Police Department and the United States Coast Guard. Yozzo allegedly intentionally sunk the boat for insurance purposes. He was released on a promise to appear and given a Nov. 2 court date.

Julie Logan of Houston, Texas, was traveling northbound on Riverside Avenue, and was observed to cross over the double yellow centerline. When stopped, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on her breath. Logan failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. She submitted to breath tests (.173 and .172). She was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive right. She was released on a $500 bond and given an October 29 court date.

Police responded to Walgreen's Pharmacy at 1870 Post Road East on a report of a man attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. Upon arrival, they found Cristian Castillo of Bronx, New York, exiting the store. He was detained and identified by the store clerk as the person who had attempted to pay for a pack of cigarettes with a counterfeit $100 bill. When the clerk questioned the validity of the bill, Castillo attempted to leave the store with the pack of cigarettes. The bill was confirmed as being counterfeit by the U.S. Secret Service. Castillo was charged with forgery in the first degree and larceny in the sixth degree. Bond was set at $30,000 and he was given a Nov. 3 court date.

Police were called to Dunville's Bar and Restaurant at 41 Saugatuck Avenue on a complaint of a problem with a patron. Upon arrival, they found Robert MacCloy of Monroe intoxicated and seated outside and unable to care for himself. EMS was called to transport him to Norwalk Hospital. MacCloy allegedly resisted, fighting with the officers and kicking one officer in the chest. He was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was released on a promise to appear and given a Nov. 4 court date.
