While on routine patrol a police officer observed an older model black Toyota Celica with two occupants traveling eastbound on the Post Road East with no front registration plate. A motor vehicle stop was initiated in the area of 600 Post Road East. At that time, John Sharp, 21, of Bridgeport, asked the officer if he could step out of the vehicle to show him that his bumper had no front brackets for a front plate. The police officer said that Sharp appeared to be nervous. Because of this nervous behavior, the police officer asked if he would give consent to search his vehicle. Sharp then stated, "Well OK, but I just don't want to get arrested, I just have weed in the car, it's in the McDonalds bag." Police located the bag on the left side of the passenger floor.
