Gephardt secures major Johnson County endorsement
By: 07/29/2003
Representative Dick Gephardt today announced that important Coralville political activists, Iowa Senator Bob and Sue Dvorsky, have endorsed his campaign for president and will co-chair his Johnson County campaign.

"I am so proud that Bob and Sue Dvorsky have endorsed my campaign.  Everyone in Iowa City knows how hard Bob and Sue have worked for Senator Harkin and Governor Vilsack and they will be of enormous help in building on our unprecedented grass roots organization in Iowa.  My message of health care for everyone is really resonating and I'm excited to have Bob and Sue's help in getting that message to Iowans," Gephardt said.

Senator Dvorsky added, "As the Democratic Leader, Dick Gephardt has always fought for what was right, even when it wasn't politically popular.  He led the fight to balance the budget in the early 1990's, which led to the strongest economy our country has ever seen.  As president, Dick Gephardt is going to bring affordable, dependable health care to all Americans and we are so electrified to be working to get him elected.  Dick Gephardt has always fought for families like ours and so many in Iowa and he is going to continue that fight from the Oval Office.  Sue and I will do everything we can to get students at the University of Iowa and families in the Johnson County area organized for the Gephardt campaign."

State Senator Bob Dvorsky is the ranking member of the Appropriations Committee in the Iowa Senate, where he has fought tirelessly for access to affordable health care since 1994.  He is also a job developer with the Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.  Sue Dvorsky has taught in public school for 25 years and has worked on countless campaigns to elect Democrats in the area and across the state. They have two daughters, Ann and Caroline.
