Once again, the doors of the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Sports Hall of Fame will open wide to welcome four new members on Saturday, Oct. 10. The inductees are Ray Ishee of Wesson, Daron Jenkins of Braxton, Leon Boone of Florence and Jerry Globetti of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The quartet will be inducted during the annual meeting of the Co-Lin Athletic Alumni Association at 10 a.m. and later recognized during an alumni luncheon at noon in the Thames Center. They will take another bow during halftime ceremonies that evening when Co-Lin plays Pearl River in Stone Stadium. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

Ishee is highly regarded by his peers as a defensive coach. He starred at linebacker for Jones County Junior College and Delta State University.

As head coach at Co-Lin, from 1985-1989, Ishee compiled a 37-17-1 record. His 1985 team won the MACJC State Championship and defeated nationally ranked Nassau County (N.Y.) in the East Bowl which was hosted that year by Co-Lin.

Ishee's teams were ranked in the Top 10 in the nation four of the five years. That state championship was the first for Co-Lin's football program since 1938.

Ishee also served as dean of students at C0-Lin from 1990-2001.

Jenkins, a 1988 Co-Lin grad, was a member of the Co-Lin basketball team that finished 36-2 and was ranked No. 5 nationally under former coach Mike Jones. Jenkins was ranked among the Top 5 JUCO players in the nation that season.

A slender 6-foot-10 post player, Jenkins sparkled in the NJCCA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. He played like a mad stork, swatting shots left and right. He led the tourney in scoring, rebounds and dunks.

Jenkins had several senior college offers but elected to stay close to home in Simpson County and played for former Co-Lin coach M.K. Turk at Southern Miss when the Golden Eagles won the NIT.

Boone made his mark in football and track, graduating from Co-Lin in 1957. A Hazlehurst graduate, he was nicknamed "Nuke." He later graduated from Louisiana College where he played football as a halfback.

Globetti also is a 1957 Co-Lin grad. He was captain of the football team. He will be inducted into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame later this year.

Tickets to the alumni luncheon are $10 and may be purchased at the registration table or at the door. For more information contact Angela Furr at (601) 643-8498.

Meanwhile, Professor Hoopla B.S., was looking for his favorite meal ticket as he diligently watched a deer food plot. He put down his trusty bow and arrow long enough to reveal the winners of some weekend football action.

Last week, Hoopla predicted the winners of 25 games and got 18 right. Here's his latest list, starting with four Thursday night specials.

Southern Miss at UAB: Golden Eagles are limping after the narrow loss at Kansas. They'll try to regroup tonight. Southern Miss 28-17.

Alcorn State at Arkansas-Pine Bluff:

Braves won't have a happy road trip. Arkansas-Pine Bluff 39-12.

Valdosta State at Delta State: Statesmen have a short time to recover from their second loss of the season. Valdosta State 28-21.

Southwest at Hinds: Encouraged by their first South Division win, the Bears go looking for bigger game and are ambushed in Raymond. Hinds 20-10.

Brookhaven at Wayne County: Panthers receive a rough and rowdy welcome Friday night in Waynesboro as a partisan crowd watches the War Eagles win big. Wayne County 28-10.

Brookhaven Academy at Centreville Academy: Cougars take their perfect record on the road and escape with a narrow win. Brookhaven Academy 23-21.

West Lincoln at Bogue Chitto: Bobcats know how to win and they enjoy beating the archrival Bears in any sport or activity. Bogue Chitto 31-12.

Enterprise at Puckett: Wolves have graduated to Class 2A but that hasn't slowed them down much. Puckett 43-8.

Madison St. Joe at Loyd Star: Hornets enjoy a happy homecoming and remain unbeaten in 6 games. Loyd Star 24-14.

Wesson at Hinds AHS: Undefeated Cobras will have their hands full when they invade Utica to play the Wardawgs. Wesson 19-12.

Presbyterian Christian at Copiah Academy: Colonels are expected to win their second straight game in Gallman. Copiah Academy 27-14.

North Pike at Lawrence County: Cougars begin Region 6-4A play after a brutal non-region schedule. Lawrence County 38-19.

Franklin County at Wilkinson County: Bulldogs feast on Wildcat burgers after winning this Region 7-3 contest. Franklin County 44-12.

In other area action, expect West Jones to trample McComb 49-8, Tylertown to dump Hazlehurst 29-19, South Pike to dam Crystal Springs 38-0 and Parklane to level Oak Forest 36-9.

After sipping a Coca-Pepper, Hoopla reveals Saturday's winners around the Magnolia State.

Co-Lin at Gulf Coast: Something new awaits both teams as they appear on the NJCAA.org television network for the first time as the Bulldogs showcase their explosive offense. Gulf Coast 42-17.

Georgia Tech at Mississippi State: Bulldogs must overcome a large letdown after losing to LSU on the 6-inch line. State 28-21.

Ole Miss at Vanderbilt: Rebels must save face and maintain their Top 25 ranking in Nashville. Ole Miss 27-14.

In other action, Mississippi College over Louisiana College 28-14, Southern University of Jackson State 33-19, Texas College over Valley State 19-10, Belhaven over Faulkner 31-21 and Millsaps over DePauw 17-10.
