BC blanks Lady Panthers

BOGUE CHITTO - Scratching out just four hits, the Bogue Chitto Lady 'Cats managed to score enough runs and shut out Brookhaven's Lady Panthers 4-0 Monday in slowpitch softball action. The Lady Panthers outhit BC 10-4 but committed 2 costly errors.

Brookhaven (4-14) hosts McComb today for its first region 5A game. The junior varsity starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6 at the Lady Panthers Softball Complex.

Bogue Chitto (10-7, 2-0) hosts West Lincoln today for a region 1A varsity game, starting at 6.

"Our defense played well and we managed to get key hits with runners on base," said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. He watched his 'Cats score 1 run in the second inning and 3 more in the fifth.

Singles by Rheagan Welch, Josie Porter, Darcy Miller and Adrienne Wallace accounted for BC's hits.

On the mound, Kerri McGehee (2 K, 0 BB) picked up the win.

"We just didn't play very well," said Ole Brook coach Lisa Covington. Her team was led by Dana Herring's 3 singles. Shareeka Hill singled twice.

Losing pitcher Emily Freeman fanned 1 batter and struck out 7. Junior Varsity Action

In the JV game, Bogue Chitto clipped BHS 2-1. Darcy Miller (2 K, 2 BB) was the winning pitcher. Erica Bridwell (2 K, 2 BB) took the loss.

At the plate, singles by Kaylie Crosby, Marshonikique Blackwell, Hailey Estess and Shelby Crosby directed BC.

BHS got 2 singles from Carlee Mixon. Katie Grace Culpepper, Molly Allen, Alyson Speaks, Dana Herring and Carlie Ballard also hit safely.
