WESSON -- Senior guards Brandt Hood and Alexis Crosby lit up the scoreboard from 3-point range Friday night in leading the Cobras to varsity wins over the Enterprise Yellow Jacket teams.

In the boys game, Hood pumped in 20 points, including 4 three-pointers, to direct Wesson to an 81-43 win over Enterprise. Hood also had 5 assists.

In girls action, Crosby scored a game-high 30 points, including 6 treys, to power the Lady Cobras to a 58-30 victory over the Lady Jackets. She also had 3 steals.

Wesson travels to Natchez Cathedral Tuesday for three games. The junior varsity girls play at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity girls at 6 and the varsity boys to follow.

Wesson 81, Enterprise 43

Wesson (1-2) came out hot in the first quarter, taking a 21-10 lead over Enterprise (0-2). At the half, the Cobras maintained a 23-point, 44-21, lead.

"The kids worked hard tonight," said Wesson boys coach Ron Kessler after the win. "We played good defense. We ran the floor real well."

Contributing to the Wesson win with 15 points and 10 rebounds was Lonnie Reeves. Josh Hood pulled down 7 rebounds. Making 6 steals and 5 assists was Cody King.

"We are really young, mostly sophomores," said Enterprise boys coach Josh Bass. "We are not executing real good. Wesson shot the ball well from the outside. Coach Kessler is doing a good job with them."

Jeremy Smith paced the Jackets with 11 points. Jamie Smith followed with 10 points.

"Coach Bass' kids hustled from the tipoff to the end," added Kessler. "Enterprise caught us sleeping a few times."

Wesson 58, Enterprise 30

The Lady Cobras (2-1) jumped on the Lady Jackets (0-2) for a 29-5 run in the first quarter. At halftime, Wesson led 41-11.

"We really shot the ball well coming out of the gate," said first-year Wesson girls coach Hugh Webb. "I was pleased with our performance tonight. Our girls are making progress. We don't need to peak too early."

Following Crosby with 11 points and 7 rebounds was Ann Shelby Davis. Perry Katherine Furr and Hannah Hill netted 7 points apiece.

"We're a young team, but we're not using that as an excuse," said Enterprise girls coach Jill Nations. "Wesson's outside shooting is good."

Pacing the Lady Jackets with 4 points apiece were Sara Burke, Lacie Orr, Kylie Vincent and Tara Paden. Sara Burke, Everett and Paden collected 6 rebounds apiece. Orr had 5 steals.

Junior high action

In the junior high girls game, Wesson knocked off Enterprise 30-20. Marion Allen sparked Wesson with 15 points followed by Summer Rials with 10.

Enterprise got 8 points from Karla Hux and 6 from Callie Cole.

The Enterprise boys rallied in the second half to clip Wesson 39-38. Cody White netted 18 points for Enterprise. Kevin Perry followed with 10.

Leading Wesson with 17 points was Gib Britt. Kyle Cross and Hunter Hood finished with 6 apiece.
