Mary I. 'Wyda' Blackwell
Graveside services for Mary I. "Wyda" Blackwell, of McComb, are 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb.

Mrs. Blackwell, 86, died Feb. 4, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Lawrence County on March 29, 1922, to Alfred Sharp Boutwell and Mamie C. Wilson Boutwell.

She retired from AT&T as an operator. She was a member of the Pioneers of America. She was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her five brothers; and a sister.

Survivors are a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

William Blackwell
Services for William Blackwell, of Covington, La., are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at New Zion Union M.B. Church in Bogue Chitto with burial in Bogue Chitto-Norfield Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 2 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven.

Mr. Blackwell, 73, died Feb. 2, 2009, in Covington. He was born in Bogue Chitto on April 2, 1935, to J.C. Blackwell and Minnette McGee Blackwell.

He was a graduate of Lincoln County Training School. He was a sawyer and employed with Gordon Redd Lumber Co. for 35 years. Mr. Blackwell served his country for three years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of New Zion Union M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Laverne Holmes Blackwell; his sisters, Nelma Edward, Mary Lou Brown and Hilda Montgomery; and his brothers, James Blackwell and Garner Blackwell.

Survivors are a son, William G. Blackwell, of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Penny L. Blackwell, of Bogue Chitto; a godson, Verrico Lewis, of Bogue Chitto; his sisters, Mynell Holmes, Elnora Dorsey, both of Bogue Chitto, Velvelyn Foster and her husband, E.C., of Jackson; his brothers, Levan Blackwell and wife, Grace, of Bogue Chitto, Matthew Blackwell and wife, Bess, of Jackson, Wesley Blackwell and wife, Jessie Mae, of Springfield, Mass., James S. Blackwell, of Houston, Murray Blackwell, of Atlanta, Ga.; his 10 grandchildren; his six sisters-in-law; his four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Freddie Lee Brown
Services for Freddie Lee Brown, of Brookhaven, are 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Beulah Chapel M.B. Church in Brookhaven with burial in New Hope Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 2 until 8 p.m. at Williams Mortuary with family present from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Brown, 64, died Feb. 2, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Lincoln County on August 17, 1944, to Winston Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Howard Brown.

He was a 1963 graduate of Alexander High School. He retired from maintenance at Bogue Chitto Attendance Center. He was a member of Beulah Chapel M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Hurbert Brown; and a sister, Dorothy Daniels.

Survivors are his wife, Retha Richardson Brown, of Brookhaven; a son, Freddie Mantell Brown, of Brookhaven; his daughters, Jenny Lynn McLaurin and husband, Majectic, of Seattle, Wash., Arletta Yvette Brown Forte and husband, Eric, of Brookhaven; his brothers, Winston Brown Jr., of Brookhaven, and Alphonse Brown and wife, Juanita, of Monticello; his three sisters, Margaret Jones and husband, Joe, Hazel Varnell and husband, Wesley, all of Chicago, Ill., and Thelma Hooker, of Lancaster, Calif.; his six grandsons; and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, in-laws and friends.

Lillie Pearl Davis
Services for Lillie Pearl Davis, of Purvis, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Spring Chapel Baptist Church in Purvis with burial in Purvis Community Cemetery. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Davis, 60, died Feb. 3, 2009, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. She was born in Bude on June 27, 1948, to T.J. Rancifer and Mary Jane Sanders Rancifer.

She was disabled. She was a member of Kingdom Builders Ministries in Picayune.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sons, Jessie and Clifford Rancifer; a brother, Curtis Rancifer; and a sister, Lillie Ree Thompson.

Survivors are her husband, James Davis, of Purvis; a son, Cedric Floyd Bee, of Purvis; her daughters, Lizzie Ree Jackson and Jane Johnson, both of Hattiesburg, Jacqueline Rancifer, of Collins, and Toni Jones, of Picayune; her brothers, Charles Rancifer, of Memphis, Tenn., Thomas Rancifer, of Kansas City, Kan., Jessie Rancifer, Percy Bailey and Floyd Sanders, all of Greenville; her sisters, Ellen Middleton, Bennie Session, Patsy Rancifer, all of Greenville; her 16 grandchildren; and her 22 great-grandchildren.

Mary M. Godbold
Services for Mary M. Godbold, of McComb, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home Chapel in McComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. The Rev. Karen Koons Hayden will officiate.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m.

Mrs. Godbold, 83, died Feb. 4, 2009, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia. She was born in Franklin County on Feb. 10, 1925, to George Gill and Leona Howard Gill.

She was a homemaker and for many years worked at Vest Shoes and First National Bank. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Cecilian Circle and the J.O. Emmerich Sunday school class. She was a former member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in her children's and grandchildren's activities.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Earl Patrick Godbold; an infant son, Loubet Brock; her two brothers; and her two sisters.

Survivors are a son, Gill Godbold, of San Jose, Calif.; her daughters, Becky Stewart, of Bentonville, Ark., and Jane Quin, of McComb; her two brothers, Clyde Gill, of Summit, and Chester Gill, of Metairie, La.; her four grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia Ann Case Harrington
Memorial services for Sylvia Ann Case Harrington, of Saraland, Ala., formerly of Wesson, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Smithtown Baptist Church. Ascension Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harrington, 61, died Jan. 28, 2009, at Springhill Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was a native of Wesson. She married her husband, Johnny, on Feb. 26, 1967. Mrs. Harrington and her family moved to Saraland, where they reared their three children. She loved her family, her friends, her flowers and her heavenly Father.

Preceding her in death were her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Garland and Katherine Harrington.

Survivors are her loving husband of 41 years, John P. Harrington; her children, Jaye Harrington and wife, Ashley, Casey Hobbs and husband, Rod, and Brandy Harrington; her sister, Janet Currie and husband, Carey, of Wesson; her five grandchildren, Adam, Samantha, Addison and Bailey Harrington and Chaz Hobbs; her two foster grandchildren, Margaret and Nohealani; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Harrington and wife, Donis, of Wesson; a sister-in-law, Patsy Berch and husband, Curtis, of Wesson; and her numerous nieces and nephews, all of Wesson.

Ollie B. Magee
Services for Ollie B. Magee, of Sontag, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Pine Grove M.B. Church in Sontag with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Magee, 58, died Jan. 28, 2009, in Boyce, La. He was born in Sontag on Oct. 16, 1950, to Robert Magee and Allie Mae Barnes Magee.

He was a 1968 graduate of Eva H. Harris High School. He was a truck driver for S&S Dragline in Brookhaven. Mr. Magee served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Pine Grove M.B. Church, where he served as assistant Sunday school superintendent.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughters, Raquel Magee and Stephanie Magee; and his brothers, Cal Robert Magee Sr., Obie Howard Magee and Excell Magee.

Survivors are his wife, Catherine H. Magee, of Sontag; a son, Darrel Magee and wife, Cinda, of Salt Lake City, Utah; his daughters, Shernicki Heard, of Canton, Ohio, Geneva Griffin, of Monticello, and Lawanna Heard, of Sontag; his sisters, Bessie Barnes, of Fontana, Calif., and Jessie Mae Locke and husband, Donald, of Los Angeles, Calif.; his brothers, Vester Lee Magee and wife, Ruth, of San Antonio, Texas, Lonnie Ray Magee, of Los Angeles, and Louis James Magee and wife, Katie, of Sontag; his seven grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Arch Lamar Windham
Services for Arch Lamar Windham, of Bogue Chitto, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive and Saturday 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Windham, 82, died Feb. 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Warren, Ark., on March 6, 1926, to Arch Aaron and Gussie Price Windham.

He was reared by his grandmother, Betty McKeithen Windham, after losing his mother at age 6 and father at age 7. He attended Jena, La., public schools, but quit to work in a shipyard in Orange, Texas at the beginning of World War II. He served in the 137th U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. After the war, he came back to work as a roughneck for Big Chief Drilling Co. For several years he and his family lived in several towns in Louisiana, Florida and Mississippi while managing drilling rigs for the H.L. Rowley Co. and Rimrock Tidelands Drilling Co. He and his family moved to Brookhaven in 1959, where he worked for Teche Drilling Co. He also worked for more than 10 years as a drilling consultant for Web Jay Engineering. After he retired from the oilfield, he worked with Day Detectives, Gatlin Corporation and Watts Pharmacy until his health declined. He was a member of Halbert Heights Baptist Church in Brookhaven and later joined Easthaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Hazle Francile.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Newell Windham; his sons, Mike Windham and wife, Sue, Jon Windham and wife, Tammy; a daughter, Brenda Windham Case and husband, Richard; a brother, Gillis Windham, of Magnolia; a sister, Madge Rose Ryland, of Pineville; his six grandchildren, Todd, Ben, Justin, Blake and Caleb Windham and Ana Case; and his three great-grandchildren, Chandler Case, Cameron Duncan and Laura Clare Windham.

The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Dena Jackson, Dr. Jeff Ross and the staff of the intensive care unit and the third floor at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven.
