The Trojans of Dakota State University ran their way to first place in the DAC cross country championship in Rapid City on Friday (today).
The DSU men's team placed first with 22 points. Black Hills State University came in second (51 points) and South Dakota Tech was third (82 points).
Individually, DSU's Tyler VanPeursem won the meet, with four teammates also in the top nine. Sammy Chavez of Dickinson State placed second. DSU's Anthony Drealan was third, Devon Berkness fourth, Matt Fideler fifth and A.J. Manning ninth.
In the women's race, DSU placed fourth with 79 points. First place went to Black Hills State (34 points) and second was Jamestown College (61 points).
Individually, Erin Curran of Black Hills State was the first across the finish line and teammate Wendy O'Lexey came in second.
For DSU, Stephanie Warnke placed sixth, Samantha Warnke was 15th, Clarice Bauer finished 17th and Brittany Young was 18th.
