    Lady Dogs carry 3-3 softball record

    With six games under their belts, the Madison Lady Bulldogs carry a 3-3 varsity softball record, while the junior varsity team is 2-4.

    The varsity wins have come over Tea Titans 11-0, Harrisburg 4-3 and Pipestone Area (Minn.) 7-5. Mitchell beat Madison 6-0, 8-2 and Pipestone beat Madison 12-1.

    The JV wins came over Canton 9-3 and Yankton 14-0 with losses to Dell Rapids 9-4 and 11-5, Pipestone 4-0 and 10-1.

    Madison is led by Nikki Seitz with five singles and Logan Johnson with three doubles and a single.

    Also having hits for MHS this season are Kara Seitz with three singles and a double; Ashley Curry, three singles, a double and six walks; Paige Hemmer, four singles, a double and a walk; Brooke Hemmer, a single, two doubles, two walks and a hit by pitch; Katie Lindsay, three singles and a walk; Haley Wire, three singles and a walk; Kelsey Klosterman, four singles and a walk; Dani Lemme, two singles and a walk; Chloe Nordling, four singles and a walk; and Breana Van Dyke, a triple and a single.

    "The varsity pitchers are Johnson and Van Dyke," said Dawn Wiebers, Madison's coach. "The JV pitcher is Morgan Williams."

    The varsity will host games at Flynn Field on Sunday against Brookings and the junior varsity team will take on Mitchell Gold. Both teams will play at 12:30 and 2 p.m.

    On Sept. 26-27, the junior varsity team will play in the state tournament at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls. The varsity will travel to Canton on Sept. 27.

    On Oct. 2-3, the varsity team will head to Sioux Falls for the state tournament at Sherman Park.

    "The teams are still working on picking up some additional games if time permits," said Wiebers.
