A total of $1.531 million was raised during a two-day charity event sponsored by the Pamida Foundation. The Sept. 15-16 event in Omaha, Neb., gathered together partners who support the Pamida Foundation. Donations, which exceeded contributions from the 2008 event, directly support non-profit organizations in Pamida communities. The annual charity event has been held since 2000, and raised more than $7 million in vendor donations and participation. This year's 2-day event was held at the La Vista Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center and included a business strategy presentation by the Pamida's Executive Committee, a fund-raising event, dinner and a silent auction. "We thank all of our vendors for their support and participation at the event and for their continued partnership," said Laurie Wharton, senior vice president of marketing and president of the Pamida Foundation. "With their generous donations we are able to help educate youth, and provide assistance to individuals with disabilities, the underprivileged and families in need in our communities." Top contributors to the event included Cleo, McKesson Corporation, Procter & Gamble Co., Surdell & Partners Advertising/Marketing, LLC, Tomax and Werner Enterprises, Inc. More than 75 percent of the proceeds raised by the annual Foundation Event will directly benefit the communities that Pamida serves. "We are thrilled with our attendance and the amount of donations raised at this year's event," said Jessica Strohman, executive director of the Pamida Foundation. "Through the generosity of our vendor partners we are able to improve the lives of our communities' citizens and youth." Overall, The Pamida Foundation supports more than 800 charitable organizations that focus on education, health and social services. In 2008, the Foundation donated more than $700,000 to these organizations to better the lives of citizens in their communities.
