YANKTON (AP) -- The Gehl Company said it is temporarily suspending production at its Yankton plant.
Approximately 100 employees were called back to work in mid-April after an extended shutdown that began in January.
When contacted Monday (today), Dustin Williams, Gehl plant manager in Madison, said the company had not made any changes to the current operations at its Madison manufacturing plant. Gehl has cut back production hours at the Madison plant since last fall in response to the economic downturn.
In a statement last week, Gehl officials cited the ongoing economic slump as the reason for suspending production.
Gehl has laid off 75 workers in Yankton since December. The Wisconsin-based company makes telescopic handlers, wheel loaders and asphalt pavers in Yankton.
