The Madison City Commission will consider approving resolutions dealing with new sidewalk construction during its meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
The municipal sidewalk committee has recommended three areas in the city that should undergo sidewalk improvements in 2010.
The three areas are: N.W. 7th St. at mid-block between Highland and Catherine avenues to Chicago Ave., Catherine Ave. from N. 1st St. to Center St., and N.E. 6th St. between Washington and Division avenues.
The city commissioners will also review a resolution adopting a community revitalization plan. The revitalization plan will include following the information in the 2008 Madison Comprehensive Plan and incorporating other programs, such as:
-- Developing financing mechanisms for home ownership assistance.
-- Purchasing and redeveloping residential properties that are abandoned or foreclosed.
-- Demolishing blighted structures.
-- Redeveloping demolished or vacant property.
-- Supporting the future development of the downtown area.
In other business, the commissioners will consider:
-- Acknowledging renewal applications for alcohol licenses and setting a hearing date.
-- Hearing a request from Dawn Wiebers to enact a proclamation recognizing American Education Week Nov. 15-21.
-- Hearing the first reading of a supplemental appropriations request for the 2009 budget.
-- Holding a question-and-answer session with Leadership Madison participants.
The commissioners have scheduled an executive session to discuss the qualifications and characteristics of a prospective or current employee or public officer.
