Dakota Beef's former Chief Financial Officer Steven "Flint" McCullough was sentenced to five years probation and $15,000 based on information that the Howard company knowingly employed 15 illegal immigrants for almost a year.
McCullough, of Milford, Ill., was sentenced Oct. 26 by U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Simko. He was charged Aug. 7 and pled guilty to the offense Aug. 11. His sentence was announced by South Dakota U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson.
McCullough is charged with knowingly employing 15 illegal immigrants from September 2007 until July 2008.
In addition to McCullough being charged personally, the Dakota Beef company was fined $45,000 and given five years probation for knowingly employing illegal aliens. A few of those employed illegally also faced charges.
