The Madison City Commission will consider giving its authorization for Mayor Gene Hexom to sign a partial certificate of substantial completion for Madison Aquatic Center construction during its meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall.
The contractor, Sunkota Construction of Sioux Falls, was given a field observation report dated May 18 which listed items workers will need to complete before the construction is finished. The work list includes improving the low flow for a lavatory faucet, cleaning the grates for floor drains, and installing motor and belt guards for exhaust fans.
The commissioners have scheduled a board of adjustment hearing at 5:35 p.m. to consider a variance request made by Craig and Val Manthey for a side-yard setback. They will also consider renewing malt beverage licenses for local businesses, groups and organizations.
In other business, the commission will consider:
-- Reviewing a $51,000 bid from Dakota Fence of Fargo, N.D., to install playground equipment.
-- Adopting an integrated resource plan regarding Madison's electricity supply and use. The plan was requested by the Western Area Power Administration, a major supplier of electricity to the city.
-- Holding the first reading of a new ordinance that requires anyone requesting payment from the city for goods or services to provide an itemized invoice and a voucher signed by the appropriate city official. The new ordinance will also require that all money spent by municipal boards is distributed by written requisition.
-- Revising the salary range on the city's wage policy so that a Library Assistant I position is placed at grade 4.
-- Appointing Eldon "Red" Beukelman to the city planning commission.
-- Reviewing the bid provided by Mike Kroger Masonry & Restoration Inc. of Dell Rapids for the Rock Creek wall repair project. The company provided a base bid of $19,400 and an alternate bid for additional work of $7,200.
-- Holding an executive session to discuss contract negotiations.
