A 'thank you' to our veterans

America, for better or for worse, is truly a nation where we often take for granted the depths of our freedoms.
The true American soldiers have chosen freely to put their lives, families and personal dreams aside to serve our country. How can we not have anything less than the utmost respect, honor, and gratitude for those who willingly give their lives to ensure that no harm will come to us, and that we will not lose our American way of life?

Yet often times we question, and even protest the soldier's actions in a foreign land. And this is another freedom allowed by the same soldier, the right of free speech and to voice our opinion. Yet the soldier stays his course to defend our rights despite the opinions of his fellow countrymen. Why? Because the word 'HONOR' is held in high regard and instilled in the heart of a true soldier. Honor is best-defined as personal integrity, selfless pride, dignity and respect for ones duty. Should we all learn and live the principles that drive our American soldier, our country and those around us would be the ideal place to live.

Can this be possible? Not without all of us putting those same principles into action. Not just saying or believing in them, but actually living them in all our affairs. The aspect of being honorable in business, in our speech, in our every thought, is not impossible. The Soldier's Creed speaks of being a warrior, unwilling to accept defeat, unwilling to quit, never to leave a comrade behind. Discipline, teamwork, values, and priorities are other aspects of the creed that our soldiers live. Is this possible for all of us? Not without the same level of commitment, dedication and faith that the American soldier possesses. But still possible.

So as we are sitting in our comfy homes, relaxing from a hard day's work of our choosing, and preparing to eat a delicious meal on this Veteran's Day, think about our soldiers, say a prayer of thanks and safety for all of them. And remember those neighbors and friends who chose to serve our country and serve our community today.
