MYRTLE CHARLENE BELL MILLER

MANHATTAN-- Myrtle Charlene Bell Miller, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Stoneybrook Retirement Center in the Hospice Care Unit.

Mrs. Miller was born Aug. 16, 1933, at Lake City, the daughter of Charles Edwin and Margaret Myrtle (Watson) Bell.

She married Lenard LaVern Miller at the First Christian Church, McPherson on Nov. 8, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Theresa Marie Miller in 1956 and Cyndi Ann Miller in 1961. She and her husband owned and managed several businesses throughout their 52 years together. Their first was Miller Funeral Home in Cawker City. They also owned Miller Furniture Store in Glen Elder and opened the Senior Citizens Home in Cawker City in 1961. In 1972, they purchased the Courser Funeral Home and later the Conroy Funeral Home, both of Manhattan and together operated them as the Parkview Funeral Home.

Survivors include one son, Charles Len Miller and partner W. Shane Guilliams of Phoenix, Ariz; one daughter, Meri Lynn Miller-Kahle and husband Rick A. Kahle of Manhattan; two brothers, Frank Gene Bell and wife Marilyn and James Dene Bell and wife Carle, all of Medicine Lodge; one sister, Virginia Carolyn (Moomau) Black and husband Frank of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Marie Schmidt of Wichita and Ethel Miller of Marquette; and one granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Medicine Lodge.

Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday or Friday at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, Riley, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.

A memorial has been established to be determined at a later date
