Heart of the North Retreat

"Hands the Speak" is the theme of the 45th Heart of the North Retreat of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
The retreat will begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 10 and continue through 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at Luther Park Bible Camp in Chetek.

Presenter is Barbara Solsaa of Lutheran Social Services. Solsaa has worked for Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan,Inc. for 12 years. Solsaa received her bachelor's degree from Luther College in 1986 and her master's degree in social work from the University of Illinois in 1996. Solsaa worked in Christian camping ministry for many years and did missionary work with youths in Tanzania, Africa, for three years.

Also speaking is Jan Etnier talking of her experience with Global Health Ministries, a charitable organization that provides medical supplies and funding for Lutheran health care missionaries. Mary Toufar, director of program ministries at Luther Park, will lead Bible study.

The Luther Park Camp staff will present a musical Monday evening, followed by the Holden Evening Prayer Service, led by Pastor Rich Noeldner of Bethel/Dovre Lutheran Church.

Cost for the retreat is $40.
