Raffle tickets will be available for the quilt pictured. Proceeds will help the youths attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in October.
Author Debbie Fields of Granola Girl Designs will be the featured artist when the youths of St. Joseph Catholic Church hold their second annual quilt event.
The event is April 4 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph School gymnasium, 111 W. Marshall St. in Rice Lake. Fields will show several examples of her quilts and debut a new north woods-inspired fabric line at the event.

Admission to the event is $3 per person and includes one ticket for door prizes. During the event, vendors will sell quilting fabric, supplies, patterns and equipment. Free demonstrations will be held throughout the day at each vendor booth. Participants may also bring a sewing machine and have it cleaned and oiled for a reduced fee while visiting the show. See long-arm machine quilting machines and learn new quilting tips and techniques. There will be door prize drawings throughout the day. Special menu items will be available for a snack or at lunch.

Registration forms can be requested in three ways: at each drop off site; by calling Patti Anderson at 234-2963; or by sending an e-mail request to stjoesquilt@gmail.com.

To enter the show, drop off a quilt at one of the following locations: Busy Bobbin in Rice Lake, the Cotton Club in Chippewa Falls, Elly's Sheared Sheep in Chetek, the River's Edge Antiques and Quilt Loft in Hayward, Thimbles Quilt Shop in Trego, Sew Country in Clear Lake, Pins and Needles in St. Croix Falls or the Spooner Mercantile in Spooner. Quilts will be accepted at all locations until April 3. There is no fee to enter a quilt.

Quilts can be entered in the show in several divisions, including a youth division and a special theme category. Quilts made especially for babies should be entered in this category for a special display. A jury will review all entries for Best of Show awards, and ribbons will be awarded for each division.

Tickets for the raffle quilt are now available from the Catholic youth students, at the church rectory during business hours, and at the admissions table during the quilt show. The raffle quilt will be on display at several area shops until the event, and tickets will be available where the quilts are displayed.

Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. First prize is a queen-sized quilt, "Spring Time Tulips," made from Moda's Jelly Roll Collection, "Fig & Plum" by Fig Tree Quilts. The raffle quilt was pieced by The Churchberries Quilting Group, and it was quilted by Jennifer Bauer of Quilting Connections.

The quilt event, with sponsor Diagnostic Radiology Associates, is hosted by 31 students, ages 13-17 who are raising money to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Kansas City, Mo., in October.
