Cross country couple comes through Chetek

Bob and Jean Ellis, from Cincinnati, Ohio, stopped in Chetek July 13 to camp and grocery shop before hopping back on their tandem bike to continue their cross-country ride.

They considered Wisconsin their half way mark between their start in Anacortes, Wash., June 1 and their final destination of Bar Harbor, Maine, around the end of August.
Their gear was shipped to Washington first, then they flew out to begin the trip on their bicycle built for two. While they have no ties to Chetek, they said Wisconsin is one of their favorite places to ride because of the bike trails and back roads. Once they reach Bar Harbor, they will fly back to Cincinnati where they will continue to enjoy being retired and share stories about their coast-to-coast bike ride.
