Air Force Reserve Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey J. Nyhus has deployed to Southwest Asia with the 943rd Airlift Wing in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The airman is among the "Flying Vikings" from Minnesota's only Air Force Reserve unit who are flying and maintaining four of the unit's C-130 Hercules aircraft in the area of responsibility for about 120 days. The reservists are providing both personnel and cargo airlift during the deployment.

Nyhus, a supply superintendent, is a member of the 934th Logistics Readiness Squadron based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. Nyhus has served in the military for 24 years.

He is the son of Gerhard L. and Grace V. Nyhus, of New Auburn.
