With only nine athletes available April 14, the girls track team traveled to Ladysmith to take part in a five-team invite. The meet was a last-minute addition and filled a void in the schedule where there wasn't a meet for a week.

CF McDonnell      92
Ladysmith      91
Cadott      64
Chetek      60
Shell Lake      48

Things got off to a good start when senior Khia Lockbaum took to the discus circle and had throws of 89, 98, 102 and 106 feet, in order, to reach a new personal record in the event. She eventually finished in second place, getting edged out by a Ladysmith competitor who threw two feet farther. Lockbaum also finished in fifth place in the shot put (28'7") and then ran legs of the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay. Unfortunately, the 4x200 group got disqualified for a questionable handoff after the quartet had won the race. The 4x400 finished in fifth position.

Christina Swangim provided the major-scoring punch as has become the norm. She led off with a new personal record in the long jump at 16' 0.5", which was two feet better than the next best competitor. She then turned on the jets and smoked everyone in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.35. Next, Swangim was off to the pole vault and had a foot and a half better height than the rest of the field of vaulters at 8'6" and then anchored the winning 4x 100-meter relay team of Sydney Flatland, Josie Reisner and Amber Masters in a time of 54.83.

Freshman Flatland showed that she has some wheels of her own as she ran her first varsity 100-meter dash in 13.96 seconds, which was good enough for a fifth-place finish. She then ran a leg of the 4x200-meter relay that easily beat the field, only to be disqualified. Flatland finished her day with another win in the 4x100, where she came out of blocks. Cyan Zengaffinen ran the 400-meter dash and finished in third place with a time of 1:11.98.
Also finishing in third was Masters in the long jump at 12'11.5". Masters also finished in fourth place in the triple jump with her best jump to date of 28'3". Freshman Rachel Books finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:05.62.

The next meet is Thursday at Ladysmith with Northwestern.
