Eight structures make up the Heart of the North Builders Association's sixth annual Parade of Homes.

New to the lineup is the addition of an outbuilding, and a remodeled home will also be featured at the events Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 26-27. R & R Builders of Birchwood has constructed two of this year's entries. The first is near Butternut Hills Golf Course and features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a 32-foot windowed great room wall showcasing the view of Long Lake. The second entry is on Red Cedar Lake and features unique curved windows, exposed fir beams in the great room, and a large deck facing the lake. MAC Construction of Barron County created the third entry in the lineup. Highlights of this rural Birchwood home include cherry cabinets with granite countertops, a unique oak staircase railing, a geothermal heating system and a finished attached garage. Dobiehill Timberworks created a timber-framed outbuilding near Brill using reclaimed cedar and Douglas fir logs. This space features a loft and fireplace, and the design could easily be transformed into a cabin or modestly sized house. Brueggen Home Construction built a Wisconsin EnergyStar® home east of Cameron. Cathedral great-room ceiling, walk-in kitchen pantry and master bedroom suite complete with his-and-her walk-in closets are just a few of the highlights. Chappaqua Landing on Island Lake, a lakefront development south of Weyerhaeuser offered by New Home Store Realty, features villas with a beach home feel. Open layouts with modern, neutral colors and furnishings, each villa offers three bedrooms, two baths and attached two-car garage. On Pokegama Lake in Chetek, D. Larson Construction has remodeled their second entry in as many years. This early 1990s cabin now has a large great room/loft to capture the full view of the lake with large windows, stone fireplace, sunroom and deck. The kitchen was updated and wood accents, beams and slate tile were added to the main living area. Builder and homeowner Keith Duffee created his 4100-square-foot home from his own design. This home near Lower Turtle Lake features a copper-colored steel roof, four bedrooms, three and a half baths, cabinetry with quartz countertops and a walk-out basement complete with large bar, entertainment area and theater room. Landscaping includes several water gardens and a full basketball court. Tickets for the Parade of Homes are available at each entry. Admission is $5/adult, $1/children over 4 for all entries. Parade hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from 12-5 p.m. Complete descriptions and directions for each entry are in the Parade of Homes guidebook included in the Sept. 11 edition of the Early Bird and can also be picked up at HNBA member lumberyards, banks and retailers. An abridged guidebook with complete turn-by-turn directions can also be downloaded from www.hnbawi.org.
