Clara D. Hervas

Clara D. Hervas, 95, of Chetek, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek.
She was born March 16, 1914, in Almena to Adolph and Wilhelmina (Luedke) Reddig. She was raised in Almena and attended parochial school at St. Matthew. She worked for a time as a housemaid in Kalamazoo, Mich. She married Leonard Hervas in Almena Nov. 10, 1932. They lived in Northern Minnesota and in Almena.

She is survived by four sons, Leonard (Alice) Hervas Jr., of Green Bay, Charles (Janice) Hervas, of Oakdale, Minn., Bob (Linda) Hervas, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ned (Barbara) Hervas, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two daughters, Kathy (Bruce) DeCosse, of Chetek, and Ann Nelson, of Taylors Falls, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband April 23, 1980; a granddaughter, Trisha DeCosse; a grandson, Maj. Tad Hervas; a great-grandson, Kaden DeCosse; a son-in-law, John Nelson; four brothers, Adolph, Bill, Martin and Richard Reddig; and two sisters, Louise Ostermann and Marie Kern.

Memorial services were held Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Chetek, with the Rev. John Erickson officiating. Burial of cremains will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Almena.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland.
