Jean F. Johnson
Jean F. Johnson, 83, of Chetek, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Barron Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Chetek to Earl and Frances Barnstable. She married Howard M. Johnson June 11, 1949, in Stillwater, Minn.

Jean was very dedicated to her lifelong love of Wisconsin by promoting tourism at Wisconsin Indian Head Country. Even after retirement she continued to help promote tourism by volunteering her time at WIHC.

Jean was loved by many. Her devotion to her family and friends was unconditional. Some of her favorite pastime activities were eating out, casino hopping, playing cards, enjoying the outdoors and wintering in Florida. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Sharon) Johnson, of Dallas, and Lon (Shelly) Johnson, of Eau Claire; three daughters, Diane Johnson, Deb (Jim) Sterchy and Danette (Larry) Nelson, all of Chetek; a sister, Shirley Gillette; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; devoted and loving husband; and a great- grandson.

A time of fellowship was held Tuesday at the Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Chetek United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
