Peter W. Otto
Peter W. Otto, 49, of Chetek, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at his home after a battle with colon cancer.
Peter was born April 6, 1960, to Stanley and Mary (Condon) Otto in Canby, Minn. He graduated from Ivanhoe High School, Minn., in 1978 and graduated from Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn., in 1982. He has lived in the Chetek, Barron area for 25 years, coming from Rochester, Minn.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1977 and served for 13 years. He worked for Jennie-O Turkey Store for 25 years.

Peter enjoyed ice fishing, men's basketball league and spending time with family and friends. He contributed in the rebuilding of Mississippi after hurricane Katrina. He also enjoyed being involved with the St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Peter is survived by his mother, Mary, of Canby; two sons, Adam, of Eau Claire, and Anthony (Anna), of Austin, Minn.; one daughter, Amanda (Bill) Otto, of Chetek; three brothers, Steven of O'Neill, Neb., Paul (Beth), of Ivanhoe, and James (Melinda), of Stewartville, Minn.; one sister, Anna (Dana) Farley, of St. Paul, Minn.; four grandchildren, Erin, Samuel, Ryan and Lucille; special friend, Carole Tall, of Burnsville, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Otto.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek with Father Norbert D'Mello officiating. Burial was at St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery in Wilno, Minn.
