Estelle L. Holloway

Estelle L. Holloway, 94, of Barron and formerly of Cameron, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Barron Care & Rehabilitation.
She was born March 12, 1915, to Camille and Virgina (Piche) Plante at Lake Linden, Mich. She was raised and attended school at Iron Mountain, Mich., and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1932. Estelle moved to Chicago, Ill., for one year and then Minneapolis for seven years, where she worked in housekeeping for the University of Minnesota. She married Chester Holloway June 10, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minn. They then moved to the Cameron area, where they resided for more than 40 years. Estelle was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron, where she was active in many parish and diocesan functions. She was also active in many local community organizations and volunteered at the Barron County Museum for many years. Among her interests were reading, traveling, knitting and gardening.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Janey) Holloway, of Lampe, Mo., and David (Judy) Holloway, of Barron; two daughters, Ann (Peter) Hegna, of Bloomington, Minn., and Kathy (David) White, of Amery; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Estelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester, on Sept. 22, 1994; two brothers; and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday from St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron with Father Norbert D'Mello officiating and interment in Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements were with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron and Dallas.
