James R. Iverson

James R. Iverson, 61, Cornell, passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009.
He was born Dec. 28, 1947, to Theodore and Phyllis (Henning) Iverson, in Menomonie. He gradued from Chetek High School and entered the U.S. Army. In 1969 he attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn. He married Sharon Erlitz in Stillwater, Minn., June 13, 1970. He worked as an auto body mechanic and owned his own business in North St. Paul, Minn., and Somerset. His hobbies included oil painting and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Melissa Elwood, of Canton; four sisters, Joyce (Duane) Tidline, of Menomonie, June (Daniel) Venzke, of Midland, Texas, Rosie Hewitt, of Racine, and Carol (William) Martin, of Glendale, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Destiny, Carl and Elizabeth; and one great-granddaughter, Savannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two uncles, Ted and Ben Henning; two brothers, Ted and Larry Iverson; and two sisters, Joanne and Myra.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Bloomer with Pastor Phil Halverson officiating. Friends may call this Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Borton Funeral Home in Cornell and for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
