Dorothy M. Thompson, 82, of Waukegan, Ill., formerly of Chetek, passed away July 2, 2009, at Winchester House in Libertyville, Ill.

Dorothy (Makuch) was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Weyerhaeuser where her parents, John and Blanche, owned and operated the "Rusk Farm" dance hall and tavern. She graduated as valedictorian with the class of l944 from Weyerhaeuser High School. She married Harold J. Thompson, of Chetek, July 26, 1947, and they remained married for almost 62 years. Before moving to Illinois, Dorothy was the secretary to the principal of Chetek High School for the school years of l951 and 1952. She was retired from Great Lakes Naval Base at Great Lakes, Ill. She was a member of St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan. She belonged to Lake County Farm Heritage, Northern Illinois Steam Power Club and enjoyed league bowling. She was energetic and enjoyed helping her husband with his many projects. She also loved to sew. She was survived by her husband, Harold, for just l6 days. She is further survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Ralph) Morocco, of Waukegan; a grandson, Corbett M. Morocco, of Waukegan; a great-grandson, Caleb J. Morocco, Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Leonard Makuch; a brother-in-law, T. Maynard (Juanita) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Louise; parents, John and Blanche Makuch; a sister, Sylvia (Joe) Pondell; and two brothers, Stanley and Chet (Fran) Makuch. Burial took place at Highland Memorial Park in Gurnee, Ill.
