Henry L. Jensen, 74, of Scandinavia, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Iola Living Assistance.
|
Henry was born in Scandinavia Feb. 18, 1935, to Allan L. and Francis (Gibbons) Jensen. Henry was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Lenore Ibe. They were married Aug. 28, 1954, at Scandinavia Lutheran Church. Henry loved the Sand Lake area and his farm where he was born and raised. He was an active member of the Scandinavia Lutheran Church, having served on the church council and as an usher. He served on the Scandinavia Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Scandinavia Booster Club. Henry and Lenore shared their love with more than 300 foster children for 49 years. Henry enjoyed ski jumping, hill climbing, swimming, camping, traveling, whale watching, baseball games, motorcycling and watching his grandchildren at sporting events. Henry retired from the Waupaca Foundry, where he worked in maintenance and later the mail room. He also had driven truck for Weyauwega Milk Products and Petrolane Gas in Iola. He is survived by his wife, Lenore Jensen, of Scandinavia; six daughters, Debra Jensen, of Waupaca, Laura (Bruce) Meagher, of Iola, Sara (Bryan) Yenter, of Chetek, Esther Fischer, of Appleton, April (James) Gneist, of Scandinavia, and Tammy Jensen, of Scandinavia; three sons, Gary (Jody) Jensen, of Appleton, Peter Jensen, of Scandinavia, and Scott (Kimberly) Jensen, of Scandinavia; 18 grandchildren, Adam, Erik, Ross (Becky) and Nic Jensen, Alana (Ben) Lewis, Neil (Sherri) Giefer and Jenna Giefer, Nicole (Jeff) Trotta, Ryan Cresson, Ian and Emily Yenter, Shaun, Phillip and Dallas Fischer, Austin and Sandra Jensen, Alexis and Gracie Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Nora Lewis; and a sister, Arlene (Larry) Weinfurter, of Milladore. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Allan L. and Francis Jensen; and three brothers, Allan, Clayton and Carlton Jensen. Funeral services will be held Friday at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark E. Sabin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery in Scandinavia. The Voie Funeral Home of Iola is assisting the family with arrangements.
