Dorleen D. Nedland

Dorleen D. Nedland, 73, Coon Rapids, Minn., formerly of Barron County, Wis., died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at her son's residence in Rice Lake.

The former Dorleen Splatt was born to Gustav and Elsie (Kunkel) Splatt on March 21, 1933, at Almena. She and her parents resided on a farm near Almena, where she attended a rural elementary school. She later attended Turtle Lake High School.

On Sept. 16, 1950, she married Clyde Nedland at Arland Lutheran Church. They resided in Prairie Farm for 15 years during which time she was employed at Fabri Tech, Amery. They moved to Coon Rapids in 1965, where she was employed by Anoka Technical College as Book Store Manager until retirement.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved quilting.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Debbie (Tim) Holmquist of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a son, Scott (Charlene) of Rice Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Splatt of Almena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Freda Hutchinson; and a grandson, Christopher Holmquist.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, from Appleyard's Home for Funerals, Rice Lake, Scott Nedland officiating, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Prairie Farm.

Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to services at the funeral home Tuesday.
