Barron VFW opens doors to AMVETS Post 888
By: Jim Bell 10/24/2008
The Barron VFW opened its doors to welcome the new AMVETS Post 888 to join them Sept. 30 at the Barron VFW.

State Commander Armin Conradt swore in John Elam as AMVETS Post 888 Commander.

Also in attendance were members of Chetek Post 25, Rice Lake Post 128, Past State Commander Jim Tratz, Past Auxiliary President Kathy Tratz, and Chaplain Dennis Homme.

All veterans are invited to join the organization.
AMVETS (or American Veterans) has a proud history of assisting veterans and sponsoring numerous programs that serve our country and its citizens.
The helping hand that AMVETS extends to veterans and their families takes many forms. One of the most visible is their network of trained national service officers who provide sound advice and prompt action on compensation claims at no charge to the veteran.

Membership in AMVETS is open to anyone currently serving, or who has honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces from WW II to the present, to include the National Guard and Reserves.
