Rep. John Murtha dies at 77
HARRISBURG (AP) - Rep. John Murtha, the tall, gruff-mannered former Marine who became the de facto voice of veterans on Capitol Hill and later an outspoken and influential critic of the Iraq War, died Monday following complications from gallbladder surgery. He was 77.

DRIFTING AWAY — Wind-blown snow partially obscures the view of Hickory Ridge Farm and drifts on Haag Road near Troutville Thursday. After several heavy squalls and winds gusting more than 40 mph, temperatures fell to near zero overnight and ‘feel-like’ temperatures were well below zero. The Brookville Area School District canceled classes today while most other districts operated on a two-hour delay.
