The Oath of Office Ceremonies took place last Monday at Roger Ludlowe Middle School where Master of Cerremonies Ken Flatto addressed the group and Town Clerk Elizabeth Browne administered the 'Oath of Office' to the newly elected local board and commission officials. |
First Selectman Ken Flatto said he would ask for a zero percent increase in the budgets for both the Town and the Board of Education for fiscal year 2010-2011, which begins next July 1.
Speaking at a press conference in Town Hall on Monday afternoon, the First Selectman said he is reacting to what he heard the voters say on election day and he wanted to get his budget message out early. |

Connelly paid $10 each for four or five scratch-off tickets. One was number 20 in a game called $70 Million Blockbuster. He took ticket number 20 home along with the others, scratched it off, and bingo!, er, Blockbuster!, he won a million dollars. |

 |  |  |  |  |  |  | The Thruway was shut down on Monday when Fairfield firefighters responded to a tanker truck fire near Exit 19.

"If it had gone up in flames - if the container had been breached, we'd still be there now," said Fairfield Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tracy one day after firefighters managed to contain the fire on a tanker truck carrying a volatile chemical on I-95.
The possibility of a disaster caused residents near Exit 19 to be evacuated and the Thruway to be shut down in both directions on Monday morning. |
Black Rock Congregational Church received approval from the Inland Wetlands Commission last Thursday night for a new 85,000 square foot church, two and a half times as large as the present 34,000 square foot church.
"We are pleased with the approval and look forward to the next phase of the process, getting this through the TPZ," said Kenneth Brix, Executive Director of the church.
Brix added, "The conditions as modified were completely acceptable."
