The last thing the seasoned Haverford High coach wants to do is take the focus off his players. After all, he said, the Fords (5-1) play the games - not him.
"I want my players to win for the sake of winning, not for me," Severini said last week. "It is an achievement that is a credit to my players and me being a coach for so long."
The 19-year coach got his 200th win Sept. 9, 1-0, over Springfield. Severini said he has gotten solid contributions from two players in particular: D.J. DiPaola (seven goals) is among the county leaders in scoring and keeper Ryan Barr has allowed only six goals in seven games.
The Fords are ranked fifth in the first installment of the Super 7.

Speaking of polls, the initial Southeastern Pennsylvania Boys Soccer Coaches Association poll was released earlier this week, with two Delaware County teams ranked in the top 20.
Strath Haven came in at No. 12, boasting a 5-0-1 record, and Radnor rounded out the list at No. 20, with a 2-1-1 mark. Others receiving consideration were fellow Central League affiliates Haverford, Marple Newtown and Upper Darby and Inter-Ac programs the Haverford School and Episcopal Academy.

Cardinal O'Hara fans undoubtedly have been doing double takes on the soccer pitch this season.
Two of the team's seniors - Tom and Ted Zamonski - have pulled off an interesting dichotomy. The team's starting goalkeeper, Tom is an offensive contributor for O'Hara's ice hockey team. And Ted, a goalie during hockey season, has found playing time up front for the Lions' soccer team.
"They made a switcheroo on us," said O'Hara coach Matt Kelly. "It works for both of them. One stops shots in soccer season, one stops shots on the ice."

Episcopal Academy's Milton Rico has been keeping busy.
How much so?
Rico, a sophomore, has scored all four of the Churchmen's goals this season. He had one in each of their first four matches, and was kept off the scoreboard in the fifth. That equates to a 2-3 record for E.A.
"We're working things out on offense, but until then, Milton has been great for us," coach Adrian Cox said last week. "We hope he can keep it up."

College Roll Call: Reigning Daily Times boys soccer Player of the Year and Haverford alumnus Dave Cassanelli has assimilated well to his new digs at Duquesne University.
The former Ford has played in three of the undefeated Dukes' six games (3-0-3). He is among the team's freshmen leaders in minutes played, logging plenty of time at forward.
