Upper Darby’s Thomas Arkue gets a leg up on fallen Garnet Valley goaltender Dylan Nelson and defender Kevin Kuhlman as Arkue scores one of his two goals Tuesday afternoon in the Royals’ 6-0 Central League victory.
D.J. DiPaola scored with five minutes to play to give Haverford a 1-0 Central League boys soccer victory over host Springfield Tuesday afternoon.
The win was the 200th against Central League opponents for Jorge Severini, who has been the Fords' head coach for 19 seasons.
"(DiPaola) dribbled between three people and put a left-footed shot to the right of the keeper from 18 yards out," Severini said. "It was a good game and a good shot. A very, very nice goal."
Severini realized he was approaching his 200th Central League victory but didn't talk about it with his players.
"I knew (about the milestone) at the beginning of the season and I forgot to tell people," Severini said. "I didn't say anything to anybody. I didn't want my players to worry about it. I think my wife was telling people.
"Two-hundred wins, that doesn't happen every day. I saw people saying congratulations to me. It was a different kind of congratulations than you get for just one game. The players started clapping for me."
In other Central League action:
Strath Haven 1, Harriton 0
Matt Kadoch's goal in the 78th minute lifted the Panthers over the visiting Rams. Kelsey Beck-Cullen had to make only one save to earn the shutout for the Panthers (3-0-1, 2-0), who got a solid defensive effort from Zach Ziegler.

Greg Gomolka scored in the first half for Marple Newtown, which got 18 saves from goalkeeper Austin Severino.
Peter Volpert had a goal in each half for Radnor, which got 10 saves from keeper Alex Walker-Drennen.
