CHESTER - Tonight's scheduled "Peace on the Streets Jam" had to be canceled after the headlining performer was arrested on drug and weapons charges last week, according to Chester officials.

Popular rapper Yung Berg, who was slated to appear at the show hosted by Power 99 FM, was allegedly arrested last Saturday in New York on charges of menacing, possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon, according to reports published on Billboard.com.
"I think there should be consequences for people's actions," said Councilwoman Marrea Walker-Smith, who had been coordinating the public event. "That's why we decided not to bring him here."
Walker-Smith said she thought the 22-year-old hit rapper would set a poor example for Chester's youth, especially in light of the recent wave of violence in the city.
She said that Power 99 FM could not meet the city's request to replace the artist, so they canceled the entire concert.
According to Billboard, Berg was arrested following an Aug. 9 complaint from a limo driver, who reported getting into a dispute with the rapper and another passenger. Berg was allegedly found in possession of two bags of marijuana and a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, loaded with approximately 10 rounds of ammunition.
Berg released his latest CD "Look at What You Made Me Do" Tuesday and his single, "The Business," is currently No. 9 on the hot rap tracks chart.
Last year the Peace on the Streets concert was billed as a party for recently graduated Chester High School seniors, and heralded as a way to deliver a message of peace to the city's youth. Held June 22 at Memorial Park, the concert featured up-and-coming rapper Yung Joc.
According to Billboard, Joc was arrested Dec. 23, 2007, for allegedly trying to board a plane in a Cleveland Airport with a loaded gun.
