The Expert Technician Academy at Legend High School in Parker is gearing up for its first phase this fall. To prepare, Douglas County School District officials will conduct an information session at 7 p.m. June 17 at the University Center at Chaparral.

Classes in information technology, electronics and Oracle now are open for enrollment.

The academy is a partnership between the district, Arapahoe Community College and Arapahoe/Douglas Works that will provide college credit toward an associate's degree at ACC, and preparation for industry-recognized certifications.

The academy will address the technician shortages specific to the information technology and electronics industries, and create a direct pipeline of home-grown highly trained workers to meet local demand.

Additional information is available at schools.dcsdk12.org/eta. RSVP for the June 17 meeting to Susan Meek at Susan.Meek@dcsdk12.org.
