08/16/2006
MIDDLEBURY-SOUTHBURY - The second annual tennis tournament to benefit Southbury-Middlebury Youth and Family Services is open for registration.

Registration for the tournament is $25 each for doubles players and $30 for singles. Participants can register on line at www.tennismadesimple.com, or by calling 203-232-5337.

The tournament, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, is a non-elimination tournament and is open to women's singles and doubles, men's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.

Matches will be played at the Pomperaug High School and Community Park courts.

Val Stoiana, a former touring professional and Romanian Davis Cup team player, volunteers his time to manage the tournament.

He conducts Tennis Made Simple clinics and has affiliations with Southbury and Oxford Parks and Recreation Departments.

Southbury-Middlebury Youth and Family Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and prevention services to children and families in Region 15. It is located at the corner of Strongtown Road and Judd Road in Southbury.
