In 2006, 1,806 toys were collected and distributed in Central/Western Pinal County to more than 14 charitable organizations. In 2007, the program was expanded throughout Pinal County and more charitable organizations were included resulting in the collection and distribution of over 5,500 toys. In 2008 the program distributed toys to over 1200 individual children not registered with an agency and more communities in the eastern region were included.
Due to the size of Pinal County, toys are provided to registered charitable organizations within the respective community in Pinal County to better organize and ensure toys are distributed equally.
The program's individual selection process to determine who receives toys follows the guidelines a family would be required to meet with a social welfare agency.
Individual families who request toys are first referred to selected social welfare agencies within their respective community in Pinal County. Registration is in process during the months of October and November by local social welfare agencies for those who are not participating in other assistance programs.
