MARICOPA POLICE DEPARTMENT VICTIM ASSISTANCE RESPONSE TEAM
Seeking Volunteers
Becoming a victim of violent crime can be devastating. If you are a compassionate person with the desire to help others at their time of greatest need and are available at least twice a month, volunteer with MPD Victim Assistance Program. Our program operates 24/7 and we respond to a variety of police calls, such as robbery, death investigation, domestic violence, sexual assault, etc.
Elgibility requirements:Legal adult (21 years or older), valid drivers license, reliable transportation, successful background check, fingerprint and drug screen, approval for selection by a review board, minimum high school diploma or GED and a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Q: Will I receive training? A: Yes, 40 plus hours of training will be given prior to your official entrance into the field, as well as monthly ongoing training.
Q: What is the time commitment? A: Due to the investment made in each volunteer, a one year commitment with two 12 hour shifts per month is required.
Q: What types of victims will I assist? A: You will respond to calls ranging from fatal accidents, suicide, sexual assualts to domestic violence.
Q: Why is there such an extensive application process? A: This is due to the access to confidential and sensitive victim information that you would be involved with.
Q: Will I have to deal with death? A: You would respond to calls that may include natural death, suicide, homicide, accidental death, etc.
